The aim of this project is to design an asymmetric encoder and develop an algorithm able to
estimate the angular speed and direction of rotation using a single set of slits and detectors. This
proposed algorithm will be tested using the well known frequency-based and period-based methods.
After preliminary simulations with Matlab/Simulink, the asymmetric wheel will be experimentally
tested in a real platform using a SMF32F407 microcontroller
