Projecte: 2017PID-UB/021
The materials assembled in this collection are the main result of the ‘Projecte d'Innovació Docent (PID)’ (Innovative Teaching Project) ‘L’aula invertida al Grau d’Estudis Anglesos’ (The Flipped Classroom in the English Studies Degree) (2017PID-UB/021), carried out in the Department of Modern Languages and Literatures and of English Studies at the University of Barcelona. The project has been coordinated by Clara Escoda and Enric Monforte, with Elisabeth Massana, M. Isabel Seguro and Marta Tirado as group members. The project is part of the ‘Grup d’Innovació Docent Consolidat (GIDC)’ (Consolidated Teaching Innovation Group) ‘INDAGAnglès: Innovació Docent i la seva Avaluació al Grau d’Estudis Anglesos’ (INDAGAnglès: Teaching Innovation and its Assessment in the English Studies Degree) (GINDOC-UB/153), coordinated by Martin Renes. The main aim of the collection is to facilitate the application of flipped classroom techniques in the tertiary level classroom. The materials are intended for use in connection with the compulsory, third-year module ‘El teatre de Shakespeare’ (Shakespeare’s Theatre), part of the English Studies degree at the University of Barcelona, but could also be used in any other module on Shakespeare at university level. The materials are composed of three introductory tasks with elementary comprehension questions on the primary texts studied – Hamlet, Othello and King Lear – and six worksheets corresponding to the sections into which the course is structured: Shakespeare and Early Modern Theatre and Performance; Shakespeare in his Contexts; Approaching Shakespeare Now; Hamlet; Othello, and King Lear. The worksheets are intended to be used as preparation for the sessions, in-class work, or as a pedagogical guide for the teacher. Furthermore, and in order to assess the students’ work with the worksheets, one rubric and one self-assessment questionnaire are included.
