Resum:
The foundations of non-relativistic quantum mechanics are presented with a focus towards quantum chemistry. Emphasis is placed on the physical interpretation of the mathematical tools, and the peculiarities of quantum theory, such as entanglement. The possibility of choosing different time-evolution pictures and different (discrete or continuous) representations is discussed, as well as the second-quantization formalism. Mixed states and density operators are introduced, which provides insight into the meaning of reduced density matrices. Time evolution is illustrated with a brief discussion of the interaction between matter and electromagnetic radiation. Some solved exercises are included.
